Ride Sharing

COVID
Pilots may require the use of face masks during flight. COVID-19 protocols must be discussed and agreed on before meeting at the airfield.

SkyPool tm, with planes, like its land based cousin, carpooling with cars, offers general aviation pilots around the world, an opportunity to fill empty seats with cost sharing riders. There are ample opportunities around the world where someone is flying a general aviation aircraft plane (exp: Cessna, Beechcraft, Mooney, etc) on a cross-country trip with one or more empty seats going for want. Why not have someone come along for the ride and share the cost of the flight.
  1. Pilots, this is NOT Uber for the skies. Everything starts with the pilot flying someplace and someone from the general public expressing an interest in flying along in one of your empty seats and sharing costs. To get started, register/sign-in, enter a plane mfg/model and file a flight plan to let potential cost sharing riders know when and where you are planning a flight.
  2. General Public, this is NOT Uber for the skies. You are NOT looking for/hiring a pilot to fly you where you want to go. To get started, check current/repeating flight plans, or setup a Flight Watch Agent, to see if a pilot is flying some place where you want to go with some idea of their departure date/time.
Notice: As of today, Saturday, October 5th, 2024, , the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) in the United States, continues to prohibit digital/electronic communications between pilots and the general public which promote ride sharing. They do allow hand-written posted notes on FBO bulletin boards. If you would like to have the FAA reverse their position and return to allowing digital/electronic postings, then we ask you to contact your Representatives and Senators. Meanwhile, US flights will have some of their information redacted. Check status of legislation.
